More Defensive Troubles Under Haslett

Another year under Jim Haslett, another year of an underperforming defense.  I'm tired of other teams' offensive coaches outsmarting our defensive coordinator.  And it happened again last week, as explained by Bengals coach Jay Gruden:

"We had a pretty good indication that they were gonna be in Cover-0 [man-to-man] when we went wildcat with whoever we had back there other than a quarterback, whether it’s a running back or wide receiver,” Gruden said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “It took a little bit of time, but the free safety came out of the middle of the field, and came in the box, and we knew we had A.J. one-on-one against a safety."

This describes the opening offensive play of the game, in which the Bengals scored a 73-yard TD pass.  And they did it by exploiting a glaring weakness in the Skins' defensive scheme.  Sadly, this just the most recent in a growing history of offensive coordinators outsmarting and out-game-planning Jim Haslett:

Last year the Skins lost a close game to the Cowboys in large part because of a bad Haslett play-call.

The Skins also suffered repeatedly because of Haslett's love for the ineffective 0-blitz play.

Last year Mike Shanahan showed frustration with Haslett's game-planning abilities.

And if one looks at Haslett's career record as a defensive coach, it's pretty terrible.
