Skins vs. Buccaneers: The Great, The Good, and the Not-So-Good

The Great
  • Alfred Morris.  He seems to get better each week.  This week he breaks 100 yards, including an impressive TD run.
The Good
  • RGIII.  His accuracy is jaw-dropping.  It's not just that he completes more than 70% of his passes, but that he hits his receivers in stride, right in between the numbers, allowing them to add yards after the catch.  And several of his incomplete passes could have been caught.  But we can't call him Great given so many failed drives late in the game.
  • Ryan Kerrigan.  Not a dominant game, but a sack and a huge read and tackle to stop Tampa on 3rd down with 5 minutes remaining in the game.

The Not-So-Good
  • Billy Cundiff.  He squeaked in the game-winner.  But the game didn't have to be this close.  Cundiff missed three FGs, including two that are routine for other kickers.  And he can't blame field conditions because his counterpart on the Bucs went 3/3 including 2 from 50+ yards.  A month ago I questioned the Skins' decision to release Gano, in part because Gano displays better accuracy, and I stand by my argument.
  • Skins' secondary.  Again they let up a ton of big passing plays.
  • London Fletcher.  It's disconcerting to put London here.  But this year London is not the tackling machine he's been in the past.  In fact, if you only saw his week-to-week stats, you'd think you were looking at the stats of a backup.
  • Injuries.  Brandon Merriweather and Aldrick Robinson collide during pre-game warm-ups and knock each other out of the game. I wish I was joking. Merriweather's absence has really hurt the secondary.
