- Rob Jackson. With Orakpo out, Jackson gets the start and makes a positive impact with an interception for a TD and several aggressive hits.
The Good
- RGIII. He had 1st half struggles, sometimes stayed in the pocket too long, and was credited with 3 fumbles. Yet, once again RGIII showed amazing throwing accuracy, athleticism, and will to win, avoided INTs, and nearly brought the Skins back. If his body can withstand the numerous hard hits, he'll eventually be great.
- Rushing yards. 213 rushing yards, a total that would normally be considered Great; but the way the Skins got these yards involved RGIII being hit hard numerous times as a runner or decoy.
- Fred Davis. Some of the catches came while the Bengals played prevent defense late in the game, but nonetheless it's nice to see Davis get involved in the offense after a couple quiet games. He logged 7 receptions for 90 yards.
- Kicking game. No blocked punts or kicks. Two punts downed inside the 20, one of which was at the 1. Cundiff was perfect on a FG and 4 extra points, and executed a beautiful onside kick that was a hair away from being recovered by the Skins.
- Brandon Banks. No fumbles, a nice kick-off return, and 29 yards rushing on 3 carries off the triple-option.
- Alfred "Forward" Morris. The rookie once again has a good game rushing. It's a nice sign that his YPA seems to be increasing as the season progresses.
The Not-So-Good
- Defense. Just too many points and too many yards allowed. Last year I explained Haslett's career leading underperforming and struggling defenses, and my feelings have not changed.
- Offensive Line. I think the over/under is 2024 for the year by which the Skins have solid depth on the offensive line. Jordan Black barely played last year and was under football weight when the Skins invited him to camp, and somehow the Skins entered the season with him as the primary backup at tackle. Today Black replaced an injured Trent Williams, and was abused by the Bengals D-Line on several plays and responsible for at least 2 sacks.
- Secondary. Veteran DeAngelo Hall, as well as youngsters Gomes and Crawford were abused for large chunks of pass yards.
- Josh Morgan. He's here because he essentially did nothing this week, and I'm still holding him accountable for ending last week's game with one of the most selfish, stupid, needless, and harmful penalties ever.
