Redskins vs. Cowboys: Biggest Changes

This game looked much different from the last few, and here's why in order of importance:

1) The patchwork offensive line gave reasonable pass protection. They were not overpowering, and could not produce a consistent rush attack, but they often gave Grossman time to throw.

2) Grossman looks comfortable again running the offense. He's not a starting-caliber QB, but he knows the offense well, and based on the play-call and defensive alignment, he often knows who the open receiver will be before the ball is snapped.

3) The Skins came to play. They have lost 5 in a row, but to their credit, they came to play hard.

Right now it's 14 seconds left in the 4th quarter tied 24-24... here comes OT.

  1. I like the post on the WP. I have to disagree I think if you get Rex some players he can be lights out. He's always had the ability just never been consistent part of that was his injuries in chicago that kept him sidelined for 2 years. He also never had a vet to sit behind and learn from. as you know that is crucial to the development of a young player in particular at the qb position. I can see him back next year depending on how he finishes out this season. he controls his own destiny. However, the skins will draft a qb for the future if one is available.

  2. I think you're right that Grossman is sticking around next year. At the least, his understanding of the offense would make him a good mentor for a young qb. He also might be needed to run the offense for one more year while a rookie sits back and takes notes.

As for Grossman being a starter, I respect the argument you make. And I can almost agree. For me the turnovers are the deal-breaker. Not just the interceptions; Grossman fumbles once every 4.5 times he is tackled.

But I understand people who like Grossman -- his understanding of Kyle's offense is at a high-level, and when he's not turning the ball over Grossman looks smart and in command.
