Redskins Players: High Character, Fit Shanahan's Scheme, Buy Into the System

There's a consensus among Redskins players and sports reporters: Shanahan has filled the Redskins roster with players who have high character, fit Shanahan's scheme, and buy into the Shanahan system:

- Barry Cofield, Redskins Starting Nose Tackle: "Coach Shanahan’s done a great job of getting his guys in that he wants, high-character guys and guys that buy into his system."

- Jamaal Brown, Redskins Starting Right Tackle: "We got the guys that really fit the scheme now."

- Jack Anderson, NBC Washington: "Now the Redskins seem to get it. They kept their core players like Cooley and Fletcher and surrounded them with impressionable, young talent and free agents who fit Shanahan’s system."

- Joseph White, Associated Press: "Shanahan has improved the roster in many ways — fulfilling talent needs and bringing in high-character players.

- Joseph White again: "Shanahan went shopping and has remade the team to his liking, seeking out well-behaved players who fit his offensive and defensive schemes."

- John Keim, Sporting News: "Hightower appears to be a perfect fit for the stretch zone system favored by Mike Shanahan."

- Rich Campbell, Washington Times: "Hightower appears to be a superb fit in the scheme."

- Joel Thorman, SBNation.com: "He's [Roy Helu] the fastest running back on the roster and is a perfect fit for Shanahan's scheme."

And finally .....
- Head Coach Mike Shanahan: "It’s not even close to what it was a year ago. Not only with the character of the football team and the mindset of our football team, but with the infusion of youth, some free agents, the guys that we kept that fit our scheme and a combination of those things. And that’s what you’re hoping for from year one to year two."

Finding players of high character who fit the system ... a far cry from Jeff George, Albert Haynesworth, Adam Archuleta, Brandon Lloyd etc etc etc. Seems promising.
